Johnny and Viki were so proud of their new baby girl. She was so beautiful and sweet that she'd take your breath away. And she immediately attached herself to her 2-year-old brother, by instinct. Two weeks later, Johnny got permanently laid off. Unemployment barely paid for food and utilities, let alone the house payment. Luckily, they'd saved for emergencies, but they burned through their bank account in six months.jobs were not to be found anywhere. Then the baby got sick. with bill collectors, especially the mortgage people. When they couldn't pay the bill, the phone went silent. Johnny and Viki pleaded with their lender - all along, they'd made extra payments on their house, trying to pay it off early. And they'd never been late. The bank was sympathetic, but it didn't matter. In ten months, Johnny, Viki, and their two children were homeless. They managed to get a tent, filled their gas tank, and moved up to Sacramento - only to get moved out by authorities, who tore down the refuge, and moved them into a shelter. At least now they're all getting food. If you could call it that. But it keeps them alive. So this Thanksgiving, I'm grateful to be able to help distressed homeowners, and keep them out of foreclosure.
I want you to remember that this Thanksgiving, while you're snug in your house, filling up on turkey. That you are in a position to help people, like few others are. Take advantage of it. It will make you a better person.
